A Trauma Informed Approach to Challenging Behavior

This event is hosted by Red Rock Counseling and led by guest presenter Julie Ann Harris, LCSW. It is designed for teachers, social workers, counselors, therapists, and caregivers who are working with children who have experienced complex developmental trauma.

Participants will learn a brief overview of the impact of early trauma on children's brains and how these experiences are impacting children's behavior. We will explore why traditional behavior management systems are ineffective and how these strategies may be increasing negative behavior. Participants will learn and be able to apply brain based, sensory sensitive, relational tools and strategies to use in the classroom/therapy room. All information provided is based on current research of neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology.
