While the legal profession is purported to be color blind and gender neutral in reality it is not. In Nevada less than 20 percent of all practicing attorneys identify as people of color and only 35 percent are women. Studies have shown that women are more likely to be solo practioners which carries additional financial and administrative burdens outside of simply practicing law. According to a piece in the Harvard Business Review women of color attorneys face daily acts of exclusion, subtle and blatant dismissal of their professional abilities and isolation which impacts their well-being as well as their earnings. Women of color attorneys too often must juggle uniquely complicated professional and personal lives that are impacted by systemic racism and sexism. The circle is specifically designed to address their needs will provide them with a safe space to unpack their unique types of stress and anxiety.
